Thanks to the latest advances in technology and surgical methods, patients seeking a slimmer, more toned physique have more liposuction techniques to choose from than ever before. In this post, Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr. Sayah takes a look at some of the most increasingly popular techniques and discusses the benefits of each.
TUMESCENT LIPOSUCTION
Tumescent liposuction is preferred by many of our patients because it delivers beautiful results with less risk, and in a shorter amount of time. This technique is also known as “wet” liposuction because it uses tumescent liquid to break up fat cells. A micro-cannula is used to reduce visible scarring. The effects of tumescent liposuction are noticeable faster and last longer than the effects of traditional “dry” liposuction.
ULTRASONIC LIPOSUCTION
Ultrasonic liposuction is one of the least invasive liposuction techniques. Ultrasonic sound waves are used on the targeted area where they vibrate enough to gently break your fat cells down. This makes the removal of fat cells via a cannula easier. A benefit of this technique is that your skin remains untouched, meaning less bruising, less bleeding and a much quicker recovery.
LASER LIPOSUCTION
The use of laser technology is becoming increasingly popular in plastic surgery procedures, including liposuction. A laser device can be used to break down the fat cells in the targeted area and strengthen your skin at the same time. The heat energy from the laser liquefies fat cells and stimulates collagen production, tightening the skin. This helps reduce the risk of unsightly scars. Many of our patients choose laser liposuction to slim and smoothen the appearance of their face, neck and chin.
FAT TRANSFER
Imagine getting rid of those pesky “love handles” or “muffin top” all while getting the full lips, buttocks, or breasts you have always desired. Fat transfer can help you achieve just that. The procedure involves taking your own fat cells using liposuction, harvesting and purifying them before injecting them into another area of the body you wish to augment. The procedure is hypoallergenic and safe, as it only uses your own fat cells, eliminating your risk of an allergic reaction that is often a concern with other surgical procedures.
