3 Ways Revision Lipo Delivers Better Results

Posted By David Sayah, MD

Liposuction was the most frequently performed plastic surgery in the world last year according to the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. But that doesn’t necessarily mean that every single patient was happy with his or her results. Revision liposuction offers a way for patients to improve the results of an earlier surgery. Here are three ways that lipo revision can help you feel great about your body again.

1. Evening out High Spots

Compared to some other cosmetic surgery procedures, liposuction is fairly straightforward. Yet, there is definitely a certain amount of finesse required to deliver beautiful results, and this is something that only comes with time and experience. A trip to a less experienced surgeon can result in noticeable high spots where fat was removed improperly. Revision lipo can even these out for a smoother surface again.

2. Building up Low Spots

Part of liposuction revision may actually include lipofilling, or the process of transferring fat in minute amounts from one area of the body to another. Fat transfer can be an invaluable part of liposuction revision; your surgeon can use the transplanted cells to fill in areas where too much fat was removed, eliminating low spots and dimples.

3. Creating Overall Improvements

Sometimes the problem isn’t necessarily low spots or high spots, but simply an overall look that just doesn’t quite live up to your expectations. Revision liposuction can be performed to better meet your cosmetic goals. Although maintaining good diet and exercise habits is the only absolute way to ensure lasting liposuction results, revision lipo does offer a solution to improve the look of a previous surgery so you can feel more positive about your results the second time around.
