3 Advantages Of Laser Liposuction

Posted By David Sayah, MD

Although there are several different liposuction methods that can be used to help sculpt the body, laser lipo offers some definitive advantages over more traditional tumescent liposuction.

1. INCREASED PRECISION

Advocates of laser lipo love it specifically because of the higher level of precision that laser technology offers. The laser fiber used is slender enough to allow for a narrower cannula, which targets problem spots more precisely. For this same reason, laser lipo is ideal for treating areas that are harder to reach with traditional lipo, like the more fibrous upper back.

2. SMOOTHER RESULTS

In addition to more precise control during the surgery itself, laser lipo also stimulates the body’s natural collagen production. This means the skin becomes firmer and fuller following your liposuction appointment, which only enhances your new body contours. The lasers also provide a skin tightening effect to further augment the results of your surgery.

3. FASTER RECOVERY

Finally, the laser fiber used during liposuction doesn’t just eliminate fat cells; it also cauterizes the tiny blood vessels in the area to prevent excess bleeding during the procedure. This process, combined with the powerful laser technology that minimizes the physical back-and-forth that’s needed in traditional lipo, means far less bruising and swelling during recovery for patients.

Although all of these reasons do make a strong case for laser liposuction, it’s important to remember that choosing one specific liposuction technique is less important than finding a skilled and experienced board-certified plastic surgeon who has the right touch to give you the body sculpting results you deserve.
